Here is a step-by-step guide on how to take the doors off of your Jeep Wrangler.

Get the Door Ready to Be Removed

'Before you can remove the door, you have to make sure that it is ready to come off. This means that you should fold the side mirror in until it is sitting flush with the door.

Next, you will need to take the inside door panels off. The panel is located on the door's interior side and allows you to easily access other components that will need to be removed next.

Remove the Safety Strap

The safety strap is located on the inside of the door. It helps to prevent the door from opening too wide. The black, strap will be hooked on the body of the vehicle and is very easy to unhook.

Disconnect the Electrical Wiring

There is a group of wires that are kept inside of the door. The wires will be bound together with a plastic connector. Simply grab the connector on each side and gently pull until the two parts disconnect from each other.

Remove the Bolts on the Door Hinge

On the outside of the door, there will be two door hinges that connect the door to the body. In the middle of the hinge, there is a long bolt. Located the bottom of the bolt and unscrew the nut that is attached to the bold. Use a 13mm socket and wrench to remove the bolt. Turn the bolt counterclockwise until it comes off. Once the nut is removed, take out the bolt from the hinge.

Remove the Door

Once every strap, wire, and bolt is free, you can now remove the door. Open the door slightly so that you can get a good grasp on the inside and the outside of the door. Next, lift the door straight up and out until the door is completely free from the body.

Door Storage

Now that the door is removed, the next step is to find a safe place to store it. Many owners lay a blanket on the floor of their garage and place the door on top of it. That helps to protect it from the outside elements while also protecting the paint from getting scratched by the floor. If you don't have a garage, try to store it in a place that will be away from trees or any other outside debris.
