2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe PHEV

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe PHEV is one of the hottest cars in Canada. The 2022 version was one of the best-selling vehicles in North America in its category, and the 2023 edition doesn’t disappoint either.

Since its launch in 2021, people have discovered how Jeep has combined the plug-in hybrid approach with off-road capabilities. The 2023 model keeps the unique rugged Jeep style and sense of adventure with one eye on the future with powertrain innovations.

Pricing and Models

When purchasing a 4xe PHEV, you could benefit from federal government incentives for clean-energy vehicles of between $2,500 to $7,500. Three of the classic Wrangler models are available as PHEVs.

First up is the four-door Sahara, with 50.8 cm wheels, the black three-piece Freedom hardtop and the Selec-Trac full-time 4x4 system. Prices start from $55,667. The four-door Willys starts from $55,667, too. It comes with 43.18 cm MOAB black aluminum wheels, Rubicon shocks and 81.28 cm Bridgestone tires.

Prices for the four-door Rubicon start from $63,616. It features 83.82 all-terrain tires, the 4.1 Rock-Trac full-time 4x4 system and the 21.3 cm Uconnect NAV radio and premium audio system.

4xe Capability

The star triumph of the 4xe is that it doesn’t compromise on capability. The 2.0 L turbo plug-in hybrid electric PHEV engine goes from zero to 96 km/h in six seconds. The powertrain includes two electric motors powered by a 400-volt 17 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

The vehicle’s three driving modes give you confidence and flexibility. In hybrid mode, you get the best of both worlds, relying on electric power first but combining the power of the engine for improved torque, horsepower and acceleration. Electric mode uses battery power, eliminating tailpipe emissions. You can switch to eSave to keep your battery power for later.

The Wrangler 4xe has an all-electric range of 35 km and a total range of 592 km. Hybrid mode delivers an estimated combined fuel efficiency of 4.8Le/100 km. Intelligent features, like regenerative braking, meaning you can harness kinetic energy from braking and store it in your battery as electricity.

Safety and Technology

The 4xe PHEV comes with a full-size spare tire and anti-lock four-wheel disc brakes as standard. You’ll also benefit from electronic stability control (ESC), a ParkView rear backup camera and blind-spot monitoring. Available extras include Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward-Collision Warning and a front-facing TrailCam.

Jeep hasn’t compromised on entertainment, either. With the 21.3 cm Uconnect display, you get Android Auto compatibility or Apple CarPlay support. Plus, each model comes with the Alpine premium audio system as standard.
