2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Grand Cherokee from Jeep offers an enticing blend of family-friendly comfort and serious off-road capability. The new 2021 version is now available for sale at our Richmond dealership, and here's what you can expect from this hugely popular two-row SUV.

What's New for 2021?

The new model year sees the launch of two new trims, the Laredo X which upgrades the Laredo's interior comfort and tech, and the 80th Anniversary Edition which adds a high-end luxury feel with leather seats, tungsten accents, and more.

Four Powerful Engine Options

The standard Grand Cherokee is supplied with a 3.6L V6 gas engine that makes 295 horsepower and 260lb-ft of torque, passed to either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The standard powertrain is plenty powerful enough for daily use, but shifting up to the V8 option brings either 360hp with the 5.7L mill or 475hp with the 6.4L version. But for real off-road power, head for the Trackhawk trim which packs a 6.2L V8 under the hood, pumping out an incredible 707 horsepower and 645lb-ft of torque.

Off-Road Excellence with the Trackhawk Trim

The Trackhawk model also offers excellent trail-friendly features including Kevlar-reinforced tires, a two-speed transfer case, hill descent control, air suspension with additional ground clearance, and an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential.

Infotainment and Interior Tech

All Grand Cherokee trims are fitted with either a 7" infotainment touchscreen or a larger 8.4" display. Smartphone integration is standard through Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while in-built navigation is optional on the larger screen. The infotainment displays are complemented by a 7" digital gauge cluster, adding to the overall high-tech feel. Audiophiles can choose to upgrade the standard six-speaker sound system to a nine-speaker Alpine setup, or even a premium 19-speaker Harmon/Kardon rig.

Safety Ratings and Active Driver Assist Systems

Jeep vehicles are known for their rugged engineering, and their high-quality design and build shows up in the maximum five-star ratings the Grand Cherokee received in NHTSA crash tests. The 2021 model also includes a suite of active safety systems, with the key available highlights including: • Forward collision warnings. • Automatic forward emergency braking. • Blind spot monitoring. • Rear cross-traffic alerts. • Lane keeping assist and departure warnings.
