2021 Chrysler Pacifica Review

2021 Chrysler Pacifica Review

Minivans are the most capable vehicles when it comes to hauling people and cargo; however, they are constantly ignored in favor of the "cooler" and more robust SUV segment. The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica seeks to change the opinions of would-be SUV shoppers in Canada and across the continent. With a mid-cycle refresh, added all-wheel drive (AWD) capability, and plug-in hybrid option, the ability of the Pacifica to turn shoppers away from SUVs and to minivans might not be such a strange concept.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica Review

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica will release four trim levels in Canada: Touring, Touring L, Limited, and Pinnacle. While complete details have not yet been released, it is estimated that the Touring level will start around $35,000. Chrysler has made it known that all models will come with 97 standard safety features, which is the most in the industry. Features will include, but not be limited to, a back-up camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path detection, and pedestrian automatic emergency braking. An additional 18 safety and security features are available for an additional cost.

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is a fashionable concept, full of sleek lines, modern presence, and athletic performance. The Pacifica features many standard exterior design elements, such as a redesigned front fascia, grille, LED headlamps, and more.

Performance

New for 2021, Chrysler has introduced an available AWD system for several gas-powered Chrysler Pacifica models. While not available on the plug-in hybrid version, the AWD system adds some peace of mind to drivers who want more traction in winter weather conditions.

The gas-powered Pacifica features a 3.6-litre V6 engine that pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission to deliver 287 horsepower. The hybrid version produces 260 horsepower with its 3.6-litre V6 engine and two electric motors, which are backed up by a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery.

Features

One of the highlights of the 2021 Pacifica's interior is the second and third-row Stow 'n Go seats that fold completely flat to transform the Pacifica from a minivan people hauler to a spacious cargo van. There are also plenty of storage areas to hold beverages, books, devices, and more when all the seats are in place. And all passengers can charge their devices with up to 12 different USB ports found throughout the vehicle.

In terms of technology, the 2021 Pacifica stepped up the game with a new Uconnect 5 system that includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen radio, which is customizable for up to six different user profiles. The infotainment display offers Amazon Alexa integration, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. There is even a FamCAM interior camera that allows drivers to keep an eye on rear-seat passengers--a great feature for young kids, especially those still in rear-facing car seats.
