2020 Jeep Gladiator Review: Is it a Good Car?

2020 Jeep Gladiator Review: Is it a Good Car?

The Jeep Gladiator was first introduced in 2019 and is a truck version of the legendary Jeep Wrangler. The Gladiator provides a four-door cab with a five-foot box bed, and it is the only convertible truck available on the market right now. It comes standard with that rugged character and off-road prowess that buyers expect from a Jeep. So, what are the 2020 Jeep Gladiator specs? What are its reviews? How is its performance?

The Jeep Gladiator is the only open-air pickup truck in the industry, and it has already made waves across the industry. It was named the 2020 North American Truck of the Year, Four Wheel's 2020 Pickup Truck of the Year, Autotrader Canada's Best Mid-Size Truck, and more.

Model Review (Specs): What's New?

The 2020 Jeep Gladiator comes in three different models: Sport S, Overland, and Rubicon. It features Canada's best-selling engine--a 3.6-litre Pentastar VVT V6--that delivers 285 horsepower along with 260 lb-ft of torque. Any Gladiator model can be configured with a 6-speed manual of 8-speed automatic transmission. It also includes fuel-saving Engine Stop-Start (ESS) technology to bring fuel economy to 14.3 L/100km city and 10.4 L/100km highway.

Performance Review: What's New?

2020 jeep gladiator off road

The highest-level Rubicon ($52,845) is the one recommended for off-roading, coming standard with an advanced Off-Road+ system, lockable wide track axles, an electronic disconnecting front sway bar, and a forward-facing TrailCam off-road camera. But for novice off-roaders and those looking to also spend a lot of time on the highway, the choice comes down to the 2020 Jeep Gladiator Overland vs Sport models.

The Sport S model starts at $45,845, and every model includes all of Jeep's advanced safety technology, including a back-up camera, traction control, electronic stability control with hill start assist, and more. For more interior comfort, such as a Uconnect multimedia centre with touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, ambient LED lighting, and Sirius XM Satellite Radio, buyers will need to upgrade to the Overland model (starting at $49,845).

The 2020 Jeep Gladiator continues Jeep's legendary 4x4 capability, whether off-roading, towing, or hauling is necessary. It offers best-in-class 4x4 towing of up to 3,470 kg and best-in-class hauling of up to 726 kg. The versatility provided by the Gladiator allows drivers to enjoy nature as it was intended with an open-air driving experience after removing the top and doors and the capability to tow ATVs, trailers, boats, and more. If form, function, and fun are needed in a vehicle, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator ticks all those boxes.
